This section allows you to associate discovered software with products that are in your database. Discovered software data can also be used to check your License Compliance. Before this is possible, you must document the discovered software to associate it with software products in your HelpSTAR database.
For more information, please see Adding a New Product.
This section allows you to view pre-existing products, the software associated with it, as well as software which have been moved to ignore.
Any software products that you have already added to your HelpSTAR database will be shown in this section. Note that these products are displayed as a tree-view, with each product node containing a sub-node with an alias.
The unresolved aliases (audited names) of the discovered software are shown in the Discovered Software section. Note that this listing consists of all installed programs found under the "Add or Remove Programs" setting of each audited workstation.
If the discovered software has the same alias as an existing software product, then it will be automatically associated with that product. Otherwise, you need to drag the discovered software alias from the right-hand panel to the appropriate software product parent node on the left, in order to associate them.
This section lists all software that has been discovered in an audit. From here, you can do the following:
If the product exists in the Product Tree-view, then you can drag the item directly to the product.
If you would like to create a new product for the item, or ignore the item, you can drag it to the Create/Ignore section.
If you already have software in your database (e.g. added from purchase orders), then they will be shown in the left side of the "Document Discovered Software" window. If they correspond to audited software, then drag the audited software to the matching products on the left.
